Coral Reef Eco-Systems was founded in 1992 by Steven Ruddy, professional aquarist and hobbyist since the age of seven. After many years of frustration and disappointment with the level of service, quality and expertise available from the generic pet stores and aquarium retailers in the Northern California area, Steve created Coral Reef Eco-Systems to fill the reef aquarium niche. CRES remains dedicated to bringing quality marine life, including tank-raised corals, premium service and equipment to the retail market.

As business owners and hobbyists, we support responsible collection methods through education and training, commercial propagation of fish, corals and live rock, and effective reef resource management. We pride ourselves in our expertise in this field, and attribute our success to constant diligence in keeping our skills as professional marine aquarists up-to-date and cutting edge. We believe that perpetual education in our hobby and business is a must, and research is a never-ending but joyful endeavor.

Located in Guerneville, California, in the heart of the Sonoma County wine country, we are about 1 1/2 hours drive north of San Francisco. We offer the best in aquarium lighting and supplies, a large variety of tank-raised corals, as well as design, installation and maintenance services by appointment for our local customers.
